The renowned Albanian actress has been honored with the prestigious Italian award "Premio Adelaide Ristori 2025" for her role in the play "Negotiating Peace", an international co-production featuring artists and theater groups from Ukraine, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, the Czech Republic, Albania, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, and Estonia.
Every year since 1998, Soroptimist International of Italy – Club Cividale del Friuli has awarded the prestigious Premio Adelaide Ristori to the best artist of the previous edition of the Mittelfest Festival. For the year 2024, this award was given to actress Ema Andrea for her role in Qendra Multimedia's production Negotiating Peace by Jeton Neziraj, directed by Blerta Neziraj.
The Adelaide Ristori Prize is awarded in honor of the actress born on January 29, 1822, who became one of the most significant women in European and Western theater in the 19th century.
"For me, a professional recognition that comes from the place where I ‘wrote’ libertà 30 years ago, and where I wove strands of dreams, is a border of water and land that feels safer on the road I have walked—without even knowing how lucky I’ve been,” said actress Andrea about the award.
Inspired by Richard Holbrooke’s book To End a War and The General of the Dead Army by Ismail Kadare, NEGOTIATING PEACE seeks to confront the audience with the behind-the-scenes realities, challenges, fears, and hopes that accompany the making of a peace agreement. It also raises important questions: Who can negotiate peace?
"Negotiating Peace" was produced by Qendra Multimedia, in cooperation with Teatro della Pergola (Italy); euro-scene Leipzig Festival (Germany); City Theaters of Prague (Czech Republic); R.A.A.A.M (Estonia); Mittelfest (Italy); Kontakt (Bosnia and Herzegovina); Black Box Teater (Norway); and My Balkans (USA/Serbia).
