By the end of the activity, the atmosphere was filled with relaxed smiles—much like the feeling after an empathetic conversation, when one truly feels heard.
We collected handwritten impressions from both the minors and the staff, who continuously praised the initiative and its impact, encouraging us to return.
Here are some of the impressions that stayed with us:
“I used to think that actors were arrogant, but those minutes of conversation with them changed my mind—something that will remain true for the rest of my life.”
E. SH., inhabitant
“We had a wonderful time today. You brought positive energy, like artists with pure souls, into a very sensitive environment. We hope to meet again. You have done a great job, one that truly deserves exceptional appreciation.”
Vjollca, Social Worker
“During my conversation with one of the actresses, I was struck by her generosity and openness. I was deeply moved by an episode from her life, when, amid misfortune, goodness appeared unexpectedly. A line from Migjeni’s poetry also stayed with me, where he says something like: ‘Conscience overcame the chains.’” – Inhabitant
One of the other poems dedicated to an inhabitant was the stoic poem “If—” by Rudyard Kipling, some lines of which read:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
Poetic Consultations are one-on-one encounters between a participant and an artist. Each consultation takes place begins with an open and free conversation and concludes with the participant receiving a personalized “poetic prescription” from our so-called “doctors of the soul.”
Since its inception, Poetic Consultations has spread to more than 18 countries worldwide, bringing together artists from across the globe. To date, over 250 artists from 28 different nationalities have joined the ensemble known as the Troupe de l’Imaginaire. Since the spring of 2020, more than 29,000 people have taken part in a Poetic Consultation—each one a unique and intimate encounter between an artist and a participant.
To mark the Night of Solidarity 2026—which on the same day took place at Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, Mercado do Rato in Lisbon, a bookstore and an elderly home in Sibiu, Romania, and Teatro Stabile di Catania in Italy—Qendra Multimedia brought Poetic Consultations to the Correctional Training Centre in Lipja, Kosovo.
This year, the Kosovo sessions were led by actors Albulena Kryeziu Bokshi, Aurita Agushi, Adrian Morina, and Armend Smajli, who engaged in open and meaningful conversations with the minors residing at the Correctional Training Centre in Lipjan.
Equipped with a collection of over 100 poems—the actors, dressed in white coats, took their seats in the areas where the minors (aged 17–23) usually spend their time playing chess and engaging in other leisure activities, patiently waiting for them to join the conversations.
On the walls of the Correctional Training Centre’s living room—a shared common space—were written motivational sayings such as: “If you feel pain, you are alive; if you feel the pain of another, you are a human being.”
