Last year, Qendra Multimedia (Prishtina), Royal District Theatre (Tbilisi), Kyiv Academic Theatre on Pechersk (Kyiv) and Örnproduktion (Stockholm) came together to bring forth “Unrecognized”, a new concept idea that emerged from an intense exchange and cooperation between the aforementioned partners. Supported by the Swedish Institute, as a part of the TBILISI + project, “Unrecognized” will be developed in 2025-2027 period and will include a series of theater productions and cultural interventions, in Georgia, Kosovo, Ukraine, Sweden and other countries in Europe. Thematically, “Unrecognized” will address the complexities of unrecognized and (often) invisible minority groups, and unrecognized and/or occupied territories in Europe. Drawing on the shared experiences of partner countries—Kosovo, Georgia, and Ukraine—the project aims to produce and showcase a cross-cultural theatrical production that delves into identity (in a broader sense), displacement, and sovereignty. This project will bring together theatre artists, academic voices, and local communities to co-create performances that explore these politically sensitive themes while fostering dialogue and understanding across borders.
