The comedy from Kosovo Negotiating Peace, featuring renowned actors from Kosovo and Albania — Shkumbin Istrefi, Meli Qena, Ema Andrea, Dukagjin Podrimaj, among others — will be presented at Teatro della Pergola in Florence on May 8th and 9th.
These performances in Florence come after many successful presentations of this political comedy across various European countries. We are especially pleased to return to Italy with this production after our successful presentation at the Mittelfest Festival in Cividale del Friuli in July last year, where our actress Ema Andrea was honored with the prestigious Adelaide Ristori award.
Inspired by Richard Holbrooke’s book To End a War and Ismail Kadare’s The General of the Dead Army, NEGOTIATING PEACE aims to confront the audience with the behind-the-scenes realities, challenges, fears, and hopes that accompany the process of achieving a peace agreement.
Written by Jeton Neziraj and directed by Blerta Neziraj, the play is produced by Qendra Multimedia in Prishtina, in collaboration with Teatro della Pergola (Italy); euro-scene Leipzig Festival (Germany); Prague City Theatres (Czech Republic); R.A.A.A.M (Estonia); Mittelfest (Italy); Kontakt (Bosnia and Herzegovina); Black Box Teater (Norway); and My Balkans (USA/Serbia).
