International Playwrights Workshop with Mark Ravenhill in Tirana
We are excited to invite young and emerging playwrights, writers and other theater makers to apply for the International Playwrights Workshop ‘Post Post Communist, Baby’. This seven-day workshop will take place in Tirana (Albania), and it will be run by the renowned British playwright Mark Ravenhill, in the frame of Kosovo-Albania Theater Showcase.
During the workshop, participants will use playful and innovative theater forms to explore post post Communist identities and societies, the meeting point of past, present and futures. The workshops will be led in English but in their writing the writers can use whatever multilingual combination of languages works for them.
The workshop will be structured around practical writing exercises, with time for reflection and discussion.

Mark Ravenhill is an English playwright, actor and journalist. Ravenhill is one of the most widely performed playwrights in British theatre of the late-twentieth and twenty-first centuries. His major plays include Shopping and Fucking (first performed in 1996), Some Explicit Polaroids (1999), Mother Clap's Molly House (2000), The Cut (2006), Shoot Get Treasure Repeat (2007) and The Cane (2018).
In 1999 he was one of the recipients of the V Europe Prize Theatrical Realities awarded to the Royal Court Theatre (with Sarah Kane, Jez Butterworth, Conor McPherson, Martin McDonagh).
This workshop is organized by Qendra Multimedia from Prishtina, in cooperation with the Albanian National Theatre and National Experimental Theater “Kujtim Spahivogli”, in the frame of Kosovo-Albania Theatre Showcase 2024.
