Dear friends,
This year, as traditionally for the past ten years, we were preparing to mark the jubilee edition of the International Literature Festival - polip. In this tenth anniversary of polip, which was supposed to take place between May 8 and 11, 2020 - while we were preparing by dealing with the usual festival tasks: translation of literary works of guest authors; arranging of discussions, meetings, readings and music evenings; arranging of travel and accommodation for the guests - the world was faced with the outbreak of the COVID - 19 virus.
During all this time, the artistic and managerial staff of the festival have held regular meetings and have been following the situation closely, hoping that we would sooner reach the end of this challenge that the entire world is facing. Unfortunately, witnessing the speed with which the virus has been spreading all around the world as well as in Kosovo, we have no other option but to let you know that we have to postpone this year’s edition of polip for this autumn, hoping that the world will be in a better place by then.
Authors and poets can never be detached from the events concerning the society, but may the extraordinary events like the one we are currently facing serve for our reflection and hopefully, artistic exuberance.
For ten years in a row, polip has served as a nest where lifetime friendships were created. During this time, more than ever before, we value friendships that we have created throughout years and for that, we remain forever grateful to you. Let’s use this time to feed on these friendships and create new ones. Get closer to one another, by getting closer to ourselves.
Honouring this friendship, we encourage you to continue producing your art of words and share it with as many people as possible during these days when it is more needed than ever before. We invite you to be together by being physically distant.
In the meantime, we will be working hard and tirelessly so that when autumn comes, we can all together celebrate and reflect on friendship, closeness and literature.
Until then, we dearly ask you to stay home and take care of yourselves and your loved ones!
See you on the other side!
