The poems of Jazra Khaleed speak now also Albanian.
Jazra is a Greek-Chechen poet, born in Grozny, Chechnya, who now lives in Athens.
Perhaps, the nature of his writing is best described as an antifascist and anti-snob voice; a rebel with the critical maturity who uses language and poetry, even publishing politics as tools of applying criticism against snobbism, fanatism, racism and discriminatory politics in the Greek society and beyond.
His interest in literature of different cultures has acquainted him also with Albanian literary scene. He has published several Albanian writers and introduced their work to Greek readers through his alternative literary magazine Teflon.
Qendra Multimedia has published a collection of his poetry called “Jazra Grozni Khaleed” by translation into Albanian from Eleana Zhako, copies of which will be available to readers at the Polip literary festival in May.
At this year’s Polip edition in Prishtina from 12 – 15th of May we are happy to announce that readers will also have the honour to meet Jazra in person and get acquainted with him and his writing during the festival’s reading nights.
Our invitation to come and listen to Jazra’s reading at Polip 2023 is open and extended to all interested. A detailed programme of the reading nights will follow soon.
