The second edition of Meeting of Styles ended successfully

The Center for Art Development – Q’ART is one of the organisations that has been provided with a grant from Culture for Change, an EU funded project managed by the EU Office in Kosovo and implemented by Qendra Multimedia and Goethe-Institut. Q’ART has completed its project Meeting of Styles, through which it aimed at improving the image of Prishtina through alternative art forms

During this period, there has been plenty of networking and cultural exchange between the creative community in Kosovo and over 100 participants from more than 30 countries from all over the world, as well as promotion of the tourism platform “Prishtina Urban Tourism”. This edition of the festival began with the open call for all the countries for registering the artists in “Meeting of Styles – Kosovo”. There have been around 300 applications received from artists from all over the world. There were selected 107 graphic artists, to decorate the wall of “Street B” with their artistic works. While 22 other artists/performers were engaged in other activities, such as: dance, music, beat-box, product promotion etc.

In this edition, 129 artists and performers participated; 97 were from different countries of the world: USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Guatemala, Russia, Germany, Austria, England, Portugal, Czech Republic, France, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Hungary, Poland, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Macedonia, while 32 artists were from diverse cities of Kosovo.

As a result of the planned activities, “Street B” has been transformed in a real attraction for visiting and sightseeing. This is expected to positively impact social and economic aspects of this part of the neighborhood. The festival has been one of the main cultural activities in the country by being transmitted and shared in diverse media/portals within and outside the country, especially in online media. The overall visitors throughout three days of the festival reached 5,000, out of which 500 where directly involved. “Meeting of Styles – Kosovo” festival has now become a traditional event in the country and it is being planned to be held every year in Kosovo.

In this edition of “Meeting of Styles – Kosovo”, there were five activities implemented:

  1. Meeting of Styles Kosovo – “Between the lines”, Prishtina 2018
  2. “Urban art” workshop, for new artists
  3. Street show
  4. Urban products fair
  5. MOS party/music
