polip – International Literature Festival
TO THE LIGHTHOUSE
12-14 May
ODA Theatre, Prishtina
Thirteen years ago, an initiative for cooperation between Qendra Multimedia from Prishtina and Beton from Belgrade was born. This cooperation started with the publishing of a joint anthology of contemporary literature and then went on with the creation of the international literary festival
P O L I P, held since then yearly in Prishtina. This year this festival will celebrate its 13th edition, at the same its final edition in its known format. It will be held from 12-14 of May, in Prishtina.
Hundreds of authors from all over the world have presented and talked on the stage of our festival. Considering the political and cultural context of our countries, we were always very careful to make the selection of authors reflecting on our vision of P O L I P to create a space for diversity and mutual respect.
We were always interested to learn from each other through literary exchange, translations, and joint readings. Our experience has been that art can demolish borders and bring people together from all different backgrounds.
We like to believe that P O L I P brought some light to many people and that beams of light of our efforts were visible also from afar, like the light of a lighthouse at sea is. P O L I P was a call for a different approach to unsolved problems; a call and effort to read and reach each other.
