POLIP is an international festival organized annually in Prishtina by Qendra Multimedia. The festival brings together emerging writers, artists, and cultural practitioners from Kosovo, the region, and across Europe.
POLIP goes far beyond the framework of a conventional festival. It is rooted in the idea that art and culture can serve as powerful tools for peacebuilding, dialogue, and trust-building in a region marked by conflict and unresolved historical trauma. The festival creates a space where participants engage not only in artistic exchange but also in a shared commitment to fostering understanding and empathy across divided communities.
At its core, POLIP promotes artistic and cultural exchange as a fundamental form of communication capable of contributing to conflict transformation. Participants who take part in the festival do so with the understanding that POLIP is both a cultural event and a meaningful social project, bringing together voices from Kosovo, Serbia, and the wider region despite persistent political and social divisions. The presence of artists and cultural practitioners from across Southeast Europe and beyond places these encounters within a broader regional and international context.
POLIP showcases young voices in different languages, celebrating the unique melody, rhythm, and diversity of expression that each brings. Over the years, POLIP’s programs have included public readings, concerts, street poetry events, translation and creative writing workshops, discussions and debates, as well as activities focused on literary networks and translation practices. In recent years, the festival has increasingly focused on artistic and theatre projects that foster collaboration, cultural exchange, and dialogue across borders.
Through artistic collaboration and open dialogue, POLIP continues to create opportunities for connection, understanding, and cultural exchange across borders.
